Idag samlades skolkamrater, lärare, vänner och andra som kämpar på Mynttorget i Stockholm för Hanna Tadesa och mot hennes utvisning till Etiopien.

ታጋይ ፕሮፌሰር ብርሃኑ ነጋ ይገባዋል፦
ጀግኖቻችንን እናወድስ
የአርበኞች ግንቦት ሰባት ሊቀመንበር የነበረው አሁን ደግሞ የአዲሱ የኢትዮጵያ አገር አድን የጋራ ንቅናቄ መስራችና ሊቀመንበር የሆነው ፕሮፌሰር ብርሃኑ ነጋ እምዬ ኢትዮጵያ ባለፉት 60 ዓመታት ውስጥ አምጣ ከወለደቻቸው ብርቅዬ የዘመናችን ጀግኖች ልጆቿ አንዱ በመሆን በኢሳት ቴሌቪዥን አገልግሎት የዓመቱ ምርጥ ሰው ተብሎ መመረጡ ከልብ አስደስቶኛል። ብዙዎቻችን ያልደፈርነውን የእንግልት፣ የረሃብ፣ የጥምና የህይወት መስዋዕትነት በመድፈር ሚሊዮኖች ከሚናፍቋት የምድር ገነት አሜሪካ ወደ ኤርትራ በረሃ ሲገባ በእውነት ነፃነቴን ያረጋገጥሁት ያኔ ነው። የሰው ልጅ በተፈጥሮው ምቹ ስፍራውን ለመልቀቅ የማይወድ ባህሪ ያለው ሲሆን ሁሉ ጊዜ ችግርን ፊት ለፊት ለመጋፈጥም ያለው አቅምና ወኔም ከሰው ሰው ይለያያል።
ፕሮፌሰር ብርሃኑ ነጋን ልዩ የሚያደርገው ባህሪው በአብዮቱ ዘመን ለዲሞክራሲ፣ ለፍትህና ለነፃነት መስፈን ብዙ ዋጋ የከፈለና እንደገናም በዘመነ ወያኔ በ1997 ዓ •ም ኢትዮጵያዊያንን አስተባብሮ የወያኔን ገመና ገልጦ በማሳየት ትውልዱን ለነፃነት ያነቃነቀ ብርቅዬ ኢትዮጵያዊ ነው። ከዚያም በኋላ በግፍ በስርዓቱ ወሮ በሎች የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ድምፅ ተዘርፎ ጀግኖቻችን ወደ ወህኒ ሲወረወሩ አንዱ ነበር። ችግር የማይበግረው የኢትዮጵያውያን ነፃነት፣ ክብርና እኩልነት የሚያንገበግበው ታላቅ ምሁር ነው።
አገራችን ኢትዮጵያ ባለፉት ስድሳ አመታት አምጣ ከወለደቻቸው ብርቅዬ ልጆቿ አንዱ የሆነውን ፕሮፌሰር ብርሃኑ ነጋን በአዲስ ዓመት መጀመሪያ ላይ ሆነን ክብር ለሚገባው ክብርን፣ ምስጋና ለሚገባው ምስጋናን እንሰጠዋለን። ብዙዎቻችን ከወሬ ባለፈ ያልሞከርነውን የትጥቅ ትግል ያስጀመረ የዘመናችን ታላቅ አርበኛ ስለሆነ ጎንበስ ብለን ክብር እንሰጠዋለን። እንደ እኛ የሚወዳት ሚስት፣ የሚሳሳላቸው ልጆች ያሉት ይህ ታላቅ ሰው አገሩንና ወገኑን ከሁሉ በላይ አስቀድሟልና በድጋሜ ክብር ይገባዋል እላለሁ።
ወያኔ በዚህ ሰሞን አንድን ተራ ንፍጣም ገሃዲ ከፍ ከፍ ማድረጓ ጀግናችን የፈጠረባት ጭንቄት መሆኑ ይታወቃል። በመሆኑም ጀግኖቻችንን እናወድስ፣ ከጎናቸው እንሁን፣ ክብር እንስጣቸው።
በአጠቃላይ በአገር ውስጥ የምትኖሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን ለማይቀረው ለውጥ ተዘጋጁ፣ ተነጋገሩ፣ አንገዛም በሉ። ወያኔ መውደቂያው ተቃርቧል ።
በድጋሜ ለጀግናችን ክብርና ሞገስ ይገባዋል።
ጀግኖቻችንን ስናወድስ የኢያሪኮ ቅጥር ይፈርሳል!!

‹‹ኢህአዴግም ሞላን ከሚያስከዳ ይልቅ ሌላ ሰው ቢሞክር ይሻለው ነበር›› ተማም አባቡልጉ (ጠበቃ)

‹‹ሞላ (አስገዶም) ግን ምን አይነት ሰው ነው? ንግግር አይችልም፡፡ ሚዲያ ላይ ሲቀረብ፣ ምን እንደሚነገርና ምን እንደማይነገር እንኳን ለይቶ አያውቅም፡፡ ‹‹መግለጫው››ን በአጋጣሚ አይቼ በመገረም ‹‹አጃኢብ›› ስል ነበር፡፡ [ፈገግታ ያጀበው ሳቅ] …ኢህአዴግም ሞላን ከሚያስከዳ ይልቅ ሌላ ሰው ቢሞክር ይሻለው ነበር፡፡ የሞላ ትርጉሙ አልታየኝም፡፡ የብርሃኑ (ነጋ/ፕሮፌሰር) ኤርትራ መምጣት ሞላን አነስተኛ (Insignificant) አድርጎታል፡፡ ሰውየው ለዓመታት እንዲሁ ተቀምጦ የነበረ ይመስለኛል፡፡
እውነት ነው፣ ፖለቲካ ዕውቀት እና ብስለት ይጠይቃል፡፡ አንዳንዱ ፖለቲከኛ ከበላዩ ሰው ሲመጣበት አይወድም፤ አይመቸውም፡፡ መለስ ዜናዊ (የቀድሞ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር) ለዚህ ጥሩ ምሳሌ ነው፤ የሚበልጠውን ሰው አይፈልግም ነበር፡፡ ሞላም እውነተኛ ታጋይ ቢሆን ኖሮና ኤርትራ ካሉት ጋር ቢጣላ እንኳን፤ ወደዚህ መምጣት ሳይሆን፣ ከትግሉ ርቆ አርፎ መቀመጥ ነበረበት – ከመርህ አኳያ! ታዲያ ምን እቀይራለሁ ብሎ ነበር በረሃ የገባው? ብቻ፣ የኑሮ ሰቀቀን ያለበት ይመስላል፡፡ …ኤልያስ፣ በፖለቲካ ዓለም ውስጥ፣ ዋናው ግቡ የግል የኢኮኖሚ ጥቅሙን ማግኘት ያደረገ ሰው ካለ ያን ጥቅም ያገኘ ቀን ትግሉን ያቆማል …››
/ ተማም አባቡልጉ (ጠበቃ) ጋር፣ ትናንት ተገናኝተን ሥለሀገራዊ ጉዳይ ኢ-መደበኛ ጨዋታ እና የሀሳብ ልውውጥ ስናደርግ ከተናገረው የተወሰደ፡፡

አርበኞች ግንቦት7ን ለመቀላቀል ጥያቄ የሚያቀርበው ህዝብ ቁጥር ጨምሯል

ኢሳት ዜና :-ከድርጅቱ በተገኘው መረጃ መሰረት በቀን ውስጥ ወደ ንቅናቄው ከሚደውሉ በመቶዎች ከሚቆጠሩ ስልኮች መካከል 80 በመቶው ፣ ንቅናቄውን ለመቀላቀል መረጃ የሚፈልጉ ሰዎች ናቸው። በሁለተኛ ደረጃ የሚመጣው ደግሞ የማበረታቻ ሃሳቦችን ለመስጠት የሚፈልጉ ሰዎች ሲሆኑ፣ 2 በመቶ የሚሆነው ደግሞ መረጃ ለመስጠት የሚፈልገው ነው። የድርጅቱ የስልክ መረጃ አያያዝ እንደሚያመለክተው ካለፈው ሳምንት ጀምሮ ለድርጅቱ የሚደወሉ ስልኮች በእጥፍ ጨምሯል። ምንም እንኳ አብዛኛውን ጥሪ የሚያደርጉት ወጣት ወንዶች ቢሆንም፣ ጎልማሶችና ሴቶችም ይገኙበታል ሲል የመረጃ ክፍሉ ለኢሳት ገልጿል። ድርጀቱ ትግሉን እንቀላቀል ለሚሉት ሃይሎች ” በአገር ውስጥ ሆነው ራሳቸውን እንዲያደራጁ ምክር እንደሚሰጥ ” የገለጸ ሲሆን፣ ሁኔታዎችን ላመቻቹ ወጣቶች ደግሞ ጉዞአቸውን በምን መንገድ ማድረግ እንዳለባቸው እንደሚገልጽላቸው ገልጿል። የደሚት ሊቀመንበር ሞላ አስጎደም መክዳት ለድርጀቱ በሚደውሉ ሰዎች ቁጥር ላይ ያመጣው ተጽእኖ እንደሌለ የገለጸው የመረጃ ክፍሉ፣ እንዴያውም ህዝቡ በቁጭት ስሜቱን እና ድጋፉን ሳያቋርጥ እንዲገልጽ አድርጎታል ሲል አክሏል። ህዝቡ በአገር ውስጥ ባለው አፈና በመማረር አስቸኳይ ለውጥ እንዲመጠብቅ የሚገልጸው ድርጅቱ፣ ትግሉ ትእግስትንና ጽናትን የሚጠይቅ በመሆኑ ታግሶ በውስጥ የሚያደርገውን ትግል እንዲገፋበት ጠይቋል።

ሥርዓቱ በሁለት ጫፍ የተሳለ አደጋ አፍጦበታል

በብዙ መልኩ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ገፅታን ያልተላበሰው ኢሕአዴግ ራሱን በገዥ መደብነት «አመቻችቶ» አስቀምጧል። ግንባሩ በቀደመው ዓመት አስረኛ ድርጅታዊ ጉባኤውን በዝግ በማካሄድ እንደተለመደው ባለ ዘጠኝ ነጥብ የአቋም መግለጫ በማውጣት አጠናቋል። በዚሁ ጉባኤ፣ ከዚህ ቀደም ከተካሄዱ ጉባኤዎች በተለይም በ1994 ዓ.ም በአዲስ አበባ ከተማ ከተካሄደው አራተኛው የድርጅቱ ጉባኤ ጀምሮ ይነሱ የነበሩ አጀንዳዎች ቅርፃቸውን ብቻ በመቀየር ይዘታቸውን እንደጠበቁ እስከ አስረኛው ድርጅታዊ ጉባኤ ድረስ ዘልቀዋል። በተለይም የመልካም አስተዳደር እጦትና የሙስና ጉዳይ ከድርጅቱ ጋር አብረው የተፈጠሩ እስኪመስሉ ድረስ ችግሮቹ ገንግነዋል። በ1994ዓ.ም የአዲስ አበባው ጉባኤ አብይ አጀንዳ በመሆን ጉባይተኛው የተወያየበት አጀንዳ «ጥገኛ ዝቅጠት አስተሳሰብ» የስርዓቱ አደጋ መሆኑን ነበር። የቃላት ሃብታሙ ኢሕአዴግ፣ «ጥገኛ ዝግጠት አስተሳሰብ» የሚለውን ሃረግ «ኪራይ ሰብሳቢ» በሚል አገላለጽ በመተካት በቅርቡ እስከተካሄደው አስረኛ ድርጅታዊ ጉባኤ ድረስ ይህንኑ አጀንዳ ሲመክርበት ኑሯል። ከግንባሩ ነገረ ታሪክ መረዳት እንደሚቻለውም ድርጅቱ በስልጣን ላይ እስካለ ድረስ ይሄው አጀንዳ (ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት) ሲነሳና ሲወድቅ እንደሚኖር እሙን ነው። ርግጥ ይህ ጉዳይ በመንግስት መስሪያ ቤቶች እየታየ ካለው የመልካም አስተዳደር እጦት ጋር በተያያዘ የማታ ማታ የግንባሩን ፍጻሜ የሚያቀርበው ይሆናል። በርግጥም ግንባሩ እንደሚለው «ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት የሥርዓቱ አደጋ ነው»፡፡ ከዚህ አኳያ ሥርዓቱ በሁለት ጫፍ የተሳለ አደጋ አፍጦበታል።

«ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት» ሲባል ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት ሲባል ያልተገባ የኢኮኖሚ ጥቅም በማጋበዝ ብቻ የሚተረጎም ሳይሆን ከዚህ ባለፈ የፖለቲካ ጥቅም ትስስር (ኔት ወርክ) እና ቡድንተኝነትን መሰረት ያደረገ የስልጣን መደጋገፍንም የሚጨምር የትርጉም ይዘት አለው። የአደጋው መንታ መልክም ይሄው ነው። የስርዓቱ መሪዎች ለማመን በሚከብዱ የሙስና መረቦች በመተብተባቸው በህዝቡ ላይ እየተፈጠሩ ያሉ ቅሬታዎችን መሰረት አድርጎ ሊፈጠር የሚችለው ህዝባዊ አመፅ የአደጋው አንዱ ገጽታ ሲሆን፤ ሁለተኛው የአደጋው መልክ ደግሞ ባለስልጣናቱ እንደ ቡድን በሚዘረጉት የሙስና መረብ ከጥቅም ትስስራቸው ጋር በተያያዘ እንደ መንግስታዊ መዋቅርም ሆነ እንደድርጅት የሚመጡ ግምገማዎችን በጋራ የሚመክቱበት እንዲሁም ባለስልጣናቱ የራሳቸውን የቡድን አባል ወደ ተሻለ የስልጣን ከፍታ ለማውጣት የሚያደርጉት ርብርብ የቡድን ፍላጎት የሚታይበት በመሆኑ፣ ፍላጎቱ ከሌላው ቡድን ጋር የሚጋጭ ከሆነ በዚህ መሀል የሚፈጠረው ልዩነት ከስርዓቱ አልፎ ለአገርም አደጋ የሚሆንበት እድል ይኖራል። በዚህ አግባብ ኢሕአዴግ በሁለት ጫፍ የተሳለ አደጋ አፍጦበታል።

‹የግንባሩን ቀጣይ እጣ ፈንታ ከሚወስኑት ጉዳዮች አንዱና ዋነኛው ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት ነው› የመባሉ እውነታም ከዚህ የመነጨ ነው። በተለይም የፖለቲካ ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት አዝማሚያ ብሄርን መሰረት ያደረገ ቡድንተኝነት የሚንፀባረቅበት በመሆኑ አደጋው ጠባብነትን መታያው አድርጎ የሚከሰት ሲሆን ፤ ይህን ተከትሎ የሚፈጠረው ችግር ከሥርዓቱ አልፎ ለአገርም የከፋ መሆኑ የሚያከራክረን ጉዳይ አይደለም። ስርዓቱ «ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት ለመታገል ጥረት እያደረኩ ነው» እያለ ዲስኩሩን ቢያሰማም፣ ችግሩ ከመባባሱ ውጭ ጠብ ያለ ለውጥ በአደባባይ ሊታይ አልቻለም። እጅግ አስደንጋጭ የሙስና ሪከርዶች በተወካዮች ምክር ቤት በኩል በሪፖርት መልኩ ሲታለፍ ማየት የሚደንቅ አይደለም። በመሬትና በፍትህ አስተዳደር እንዲሁም በመንግስት ንብረት ግዢና ሽያጭ ላይ እየታዩ ያሉ ግልጽ የስልጣን መባለጎችን ስናስተውል አገሪቷን እንደ «መንግስት» እያስተዳደራት ባለው ገዢው ግንባር ላይ እምነት እንድናጣ ያደርገናል። ባገባደድነው አመት የፌዴራል ዋና ኦዲት መስሪያ ቤት ለህዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት ባቀረበው ሪፖርት ሃያ አምስት የሚሆኑ የፌዴራል መስሪያ ቤቶችና ዩኒቨርስቲዎች ህጋዊነት የሌለው የንብረት ግዢና ሽያጭ መካሄዳቸውን፣ ሥራቸውን የለቀቁ ሰራተኞች በሌሉበት እስከ ስድስት ወር የሚደርስ ደመወዝ እንደተከፈላቸው፣ ያለ ጨረታ የኮንስትራክሽን ግንባታ ስራዎች ለተለያዩ ተቋራጮች እንደተሰጠ፣ ህጋዊ የደመወዝ ጭማሪ ላልተደረገላቸው ሰራተኞች በህገ-ወጥ መንገድ ተጨማሪ ክፍያ የከፈሉ መስሪያ ቤቶች መኖራቸውን ያመለከተው ይሄው ሪፖርት፣ በዚህም እንደ አገር ከሶስት ቢሊዮን ብር በላይ ያልተመሳከረ ሒሳብ መኖሩን ይጠቁማል። ሪፖርቱ የፌዴራል መስሪያ ቤቶችንና የተወሰነ ዩኒቨርስቲዎችን ብቻ የሚመለከት ሲሆን፤ በየክልሉ ያለውን ምዝበራ ከዚህ ሪፖርት አኳያ ምን ያህል የከፋ ሊሆን እንደሚችል መገመት ይቻላል። የፌዴራል ዋና ኦዲት መስሪያ ቤት የንብረት ግዢና ሽያጭ ችግር አለባቸው፣ ህጋዊ የፋይናንስ አሰራር አልተከተሉም በሚል በሪፖርቱ የጠቆማቸው የፌደራል መስሪያ ቤቶችም ሆኑ ችግሩ የታየባቸው የዩኒቨርስቲ አመራሮች በህግ ሲጠየቁ ለማየት አልታደልንም። በርግጥ በኢህአዴግ ቤት ፖለቲካን እንጂ ገንዘብን መሰረቅ የስርዓቱ አንዱ ገጽታ ነውና የተለየ እርምጃ አይጠበቅም። ይሁንና እነዚህ ከፍተኛ አመራሮች ከገንዘብ ባለፈ የፖለቲካ ፍንገጣ ያሳዩ ቀን ‹ፋይላቸው› ከመሳቢያ መውጣቱ አይቀሬ ነው። በኢህአዴግ ቤት፣ ከሁሉም የሙስና አይነቶች ከባዱ ሙስና የመሬት ወረራን ተከትሎ እየተፈጠረ ያለው ምዝበራ ዋናው ተጠቃሽ ነው። በዚህ ዘርፍ እየታየ ያለው ሙስና «ውሻ በቀደደው ጅብ ይገባል» እንዲሉ የከፍተኛ አመራሮችን ፈለግ በመከተል ቀበሌ ድረስ ያሉ አመራሮች «ከድርሻቸው» በላይ በወዳጅ ቤተ ዘመድና በሙታን ስም ሳይቀር የመሬት ወረራዉን ተያይዘውታል። የታችኛው አመራር ምዝበራ አይን እያወጣ በመምጣቱ «ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነትን እየተዋጋሁ ነው» የሚለው ኢሕአዴግ፣ ለአስመሳይ ፖለቲካው ማሳያ ይሆን ዘንድ አልፎ አልፎ የታችኛውን አመራር ጭዳ ሲያደርገው ይታያል። ነገሩ ‹የኪራይ ሰብሳቢዎች መተካካት› አይነት ነገር ነው፡፡ የበላ ይሻራል፡፡ ያልበላ ይሾማል፡፡ ኡደቱም በዚህ መልኩ እየቀጠለ ያለ ይመስላል፡፡ ለዚህ ማሳያ ሆኖ የሚቀርበው ጉዳይ የአዲስ አበባ ከተማ አስተዳደር ተሞክሮ ነው። የከተማ አስተዳደሩ የከተማ ልማትና ማኔጅመንት ቢሮ ምክትል ኃላፊ የሆነው አቶ ኃየሎም ጣውዩ በነሐሴ ወር ሦስተኛ ሳምንት ለንባብ ከወጣው ከሪፖርተር ጋዜጣ ጋር ባደረገው ቃለ መጠየቅ በ2007 የሥራ ዘመን ከመሬት ጋር በተያያዘ ብቻ በየደረጃው ያሉ 315 (ሦስት መቶ አስራ አምስት) አመራሮችና ፈፃሚዎች ከኃላፊነታቸው እንደተነሱ፣ ከእነዚህ ውስጥ በህግ የሚጠየቁ ኃላፊዎች እንዳሉ ተናግሯል።

በተመሳሳይ መልኩ ከተማ አስተዳደሩ 221 (ሁለት መቶ ሃያ አንድ) አመራሮችንና 4100 (አራት ሺህ አንድ መቶ) የሚሆኑ የመንግስት ሰራተኞችን ከሥራ ሊያሰናብት እንደሆነ፣ በህግ የሚጠየቁ መኖራቸውንም ለፋና ብሮድ ካስት አስታውቋል። ከዚህ ጋር በተያያዘ የካቢኔ ሹም ሽር እስከማድረግ የሚደርስ እርምጃ ሊወስድ እንደሆነም መረጃዎች በመውጣት ላይ ይገኛሉ። በመቶዎች የሚቆጠሩ መካከለኛ አመራሮች ከሙስና ጋር በተያያዘ ከሥራ የሚሰናበቱበት አዲስ አበባ እንደ ትናንቱ ሁሉ ዛሬም ‹አንገት አልባ› አመራሮችን ተሸክማ በማዝገም ላይ ትገኛለች፡፡ ነገሩ «ጉልቻ ቢቀየር …..» አይነት ነገር ነው። የበላ ይሻራል። ያልበላ ይሾማል። ዑደቱም ይቀጥላል….ከመሬት ወረራ ጋር በተያያዘ በተለይም ሀሰተኛ የመሬት ባለይዞታነት መረጃ በማዘጋጀትና ህጋዊ ቅድመ ሁኔታ ላላሟሉ ሰዎች በጥቅም ትስስር መሬት የመስጠቱ ሁኔታና የአመራሩ የመሬት ቅርምት ከአዲስ አበባ ከተማ በከፋ መልኩ በሌሎች የክልል ከተሞች እንዳለ ከአንባቢ የተሰወረ አይደለም። በፍትህ አስተዳደር በኩልም አስደንጋጭ የሙስና ተግባር እየተከሰተ እንዳለ የአደባባይ ምስጢር ነው። ከ30 ሺህ እስከ 350 ሺህ ብር የሚደርስ ገንዘብ በመቀበል በሀሰተኛ የፍርድ ቤት ትዕዛዝ ፍርደኞችን የለቀቁ የፌደራልና የክልል ማረሚያ ቤቶች መካከለኛ አመራሮችን እንዲሁም ከሙስና ጋር በተያያዘ የዳኞችን ክስ/ስንብት መስማት ከአመት አመት እየተለመደ መጥቷል።

እንግዲህ በ«ሕግ በምትመራ» አገር ላይ ከአመት አመት አስደንጋጭ የሙስና ዜናዎችን በሪፖርትም፣ በክስም መልክ እየታየ በመሆኑ «መንግስት» የሚባለው አካል ምን እየሰራ እንዳለ መጠየቅ ግድ ይለናል። የመሬትና የፍትህ አስተዳደርን እንደ ማሳያ አንስተን ተመለከትን እንጂ በሌሎች መንግስታዊ ተቋማቶች ዘንድ ምን አይነት ጉድ ሊፈጸም እንደሚችል መገመት የሚከብድ አይደለም። በቅርቡ እንኳ የኦሮሚያ ክልል ገቢዎች ቢሮ ኃላፊ የነበረው አቶ ወንድሙ ቢራቱ በሙስና ወንጀል ተጠርጥሮ የ500 (አምስት መቶ) ሚሊዮን ብር ኦዲት እየተጣራበት ይገኛል። የምርመራው ውጤት ምን ይሁን ምንም አንድ የክልል ከፍተኛ ባለስልጣን በዚህን ያህል የብር መጠን በሙስና ወንጀል መጠርጠሩ (ኦዲት መደረጉ) ሥርዓቱ በምን ያህል መጠን እንደ ነቀዘ ጥሩ ማሳያ ይሆነናል። በየአመቱ ተዝቆ ከማያልቁ መንግስታዊ ጉዶች መካከል ጥቂቱን ቆንጥሮ የሚያሳየን የፌደራል የስነ-ምግባርና የፀረ-ሙስና ኮሚሽን እንቅስቃሴ ከአሳ ነባሪዎች ይልቅ ትንንሽ አሳዎች ላይ ትኩረት አድርጎ «መረቡ»ን የጣለ በመሆኑ፣ አህአዴግ ስልጣን ላይ እስካለ ድረስ ሙስና የምንግዜም ቀዳሚ አጀንዳ ሆኖ ይኖራል። ገዢዉ መደብ ኢህአዴግ፣ በጉምቱ ባለሥልጣናቱ ላይ የሚታየውን ሙስና ከመቅረፍ ይልቅ «ሂስና ግለ ሂስ» በሚል ድርጅታዊ ቀኖናዉ ለጉዳዩ ከሚያሳየው መለሳለስ የተነሳ የሙስና ጉዳይ ለፖለቲካዊ አለመግባባቶች የመፍትሄ ማፈላለጊያ እየሆነ መጥቷል። ግንባሩ እንደሁልጊዜው ሁሉ በአስረኛ ድርጅታዊ ጉባኤው «የፖለቲካዊ ኢኮኖሚ ኪራይ ሰብሳቢነት ሚናን በልማታዊ አስተሳሰብ በመተካት የኢትዮጵያን ሕዳሴ እናረጋግጣለን» ቢልም፣ ጉዳዩ ከተለመደው የአቋም መግለጫነት የዘለለ ጠብ የሚል ነገር እንደማይኖረው የድርጅቱ የቀደመ ተሞክሮ ይነግረናል።

በመቶ ብሮች የሚቆጠር የወር ደመወዝተኛ በበዛባት አትዮጵያ፣ በየመስሪያ ቤቱ በሚሊዮኖች የሚቆጠር ብር ምዝበራ መካሄዱን፣ ይህን ተከትሎ እንደ አገር ቢሊዮን ብሮች በየዓመቱ በመንግስት ሌቦች መመዝበሩን የሚያመለክቱ ሪፖርቶች ከመንግስታዊ ተቋማት ጭምር መስማት መደበኛዉን የትራፊክ አደጋ ሪፖርት የመስማት ያህል እንኳን አላስደነግጠን ብሏል። በፖለቲካና በነጻ ተቋምነት መሃከል የዋልሉ ተቋማት አሁን አሁን የጠቅላዩ ኢህአዴግ ክንፍ መሆናቸዉን በተግባር እያሳዩን ነዉ። መንግስት በከሳሽነት በሚቀርብባቸዉ ፖለቲካ-ቅብ የክስ ጉዳዮች ተሸናፊ ሆኖ የታየበት አጋጣሚ የለም። የፍርድ ቤት ዉሳኔ በማረሚያ ቤት አመራሮች ሳይፈጸም ሲቀር የታዘብንባቸዉ አጋጣሚዎች ከጥቂት በላይ ናቸዉ። «ፍትህ»ን በብረትና በገንዘብ የገዙ አካላት አንገታቸዉን ቀና አድርገዉ በሚሄዱባት ኢትዮጵያ፣ የግፉአን ድምጽ በርክቶባታል። ጎን ማሳረፊያ ያጡ ዜጎች በበረከቱባት ሃገር፣ ከግማሽ ደርዘን በላይ ቪላ ቤቶች በተለያዩ ግለሰቦች ስም ያለዉ የኢህአዴግ መካከለኛ አመራር ፈልጎ ማግኘት ያን ያህል የሚከብድ አይደለም። በቦታ ርቀት፣ በግንዛቤ ማነስ፣ ከበቂ የምግብ አቅርቦት እጦት ጋር በተያያዘና መሰል ማህበረ-ኢኮኖሚያዊ ችግሮች የተነሳ በመቶ ሺህዎች የሚቆጠሩ ህጻናትና ወጣቶች በየአመቱ ትምህረታቸዉን ለማቋረጥ በሚገደዱባት አትዮጵያ፣ ልጆቻቸዉን ከአንድ ቀበሌ የግማሽ አመት በጀት ጋር የሚስተካከል የዉጭ አገር ትምህርት ቤት የሚያስተምሩ የአህአዴግ ከፍተኛ ባለስልጣናት ቁጥር እንደ ኢኮኖሚ «እድገቱ» ሁሉ በሁለት አሃዝ የሚገለጹ ናቸዉ፡፡ ንጹህ የመጠጥ ዉሃ ያጣ ህዝብ በበረከተባት አገር፣ የአልኮል መጠጥ ፋብሪካ በአክሲዮን ስም የገነቡ፤ ሚለዮኖች የዕለት ጉርሳቸዉን ያጡበት ሁኔታ የግል ባንክ ባለቤት የሁኑት ባለስልጣናት የደም እንጀራ እየጎረሱ እንደሆነ ሊረዱት አልቻሉም። የኢህአዴግ ባለስልጣናትን ነገረ-ስራ በቅጡ ያስተዋለ ሰዉ የሚከተለዉ ድምዳሜ ላይ መድረስ ይቻለዋል። እርሱም፡- ‹ማንኛዉም የኢህአዴግ ከፍተኛ ባለስልጣናት ከህግ በላይ ናቸዉ። የትኛዉም የህዝብም ሆነ የአገር ሃብት የባለስልጣናቱ እንጂ የህዝብ አይደለም› ባልተጻፈ ህግ እየተተገበረ ያለዉ እዉነታ ይህ ነዉ። ኢህአዴግ «የ አስራ ሦስት ወር ጸጋ» የተባለላትን አገር ወደ አስራ ሦስት ወር የፖለቲካ ጭቆናና የኢኮኖሚ ብዝበዛ አሻግሯታል።

የአገሪቱ ማህበራዊ ቀዉስ ሲጨምር እንጂ ሲቀንስ አላየንም። አይነ ስዉሩን ደርግ ሸኝተን ደንቆሮዉን አህአዴግ ተክተናልና ዛሬም እንደ ትላንቱ በደል የማንነት አካል ሆኗል፡፡ አስር፣ እንግልት፣ ስቅየት፣ ስደት፣ ሞት … ከገዥዉ መደብ በተቃራኒ የተሰለፉ ኢትዮጲያዉያን እጣ ፋንታ መሆኑን ሩብ ክፍለ-ዘመን ያካለለዉ የአገዛዙ ተሞክሮ ጮሆ ይመሰክራል። ገዥዉ መደብ በብዙ መልኩ ኮረብታዉ እርቆት ቁልቁለቱን በሚገርም ፍጥነት ተያይዞታል፤ የአይቀሬዉን አብዮት ማፍጠኛ የተጫነዉ ኢህአዴግ የህልዉናዉ ማክተሚያ ጊዜ ሩቅ አይደለም። በየአመቱ እንደ «መንግስት» አዋጂ አዲስ ዓመት መግባቱን በሚዲያ ስንሰማ ኑረናል። አዲስ ነገር በማናይበት ሁኔታ «አዲስ ዓመት» ብሎ ነገር ምናችን ነዉ?! እኛ ኢትዮጵያዊያን አዲስ አመት ሳይሆን አዲስ ስርዓት እንሻለን!!

Zone9 Bloggers Are Not Alone: More Ethiopian Citizens Face Terrorism Charges

Alongside the now-famous case of the Zone9 bloggers, there are so many detained Ethiopian bloggers, online activists and politicians, whose names are not yet on the map.

Last year on July 8, 2014, Ethiopia detained a number of local opposition leaders, bloggers, online activists and concerned citizens. Some were released after four months of interrogation. However, ten were charged on October 31, 2014 under Ethiopia’s Anti-Terrorism Proclamation with having links to diaspora-based Ethiopian opposition groups such as Ginbot 7, applying to attend an online security training, and engaging in online activism. Three of the 10 defendants are not members of any political party but ordinary citizens who were arrested for applying to attend a course. These are Zelalem Workagenegu, Yonatan Wolde and  Bahiru Degu.

The controversial Anti-Terrorism Proclamation was adopted in July 2009. Ethiopian officials tend to defend the law by arguing that its controversial provisions were copied from the existing laws of countries such as the United Kingdom. Article 6 of the Proclamation, which has been used to curtail freedom of expression, provides that:

[w]hosoever publishes or causes the publication of a statement that is likely to be understood by some or all of the members of the public to whom it is published as a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to them to the commission or preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism [is subject to between 10 and 20 years in prison].

Zelalem, the first defendant, is a human rights activist who blogs at DeBirhan. Yonatan and Bahiru, who are best described as concerned citizens, had applied along with Zelalem for a social media and Internet security training that was brought to their knowledge by a US-based Ethiopian journalist. After an email from the Ethiopian journalist in the US was found in their possession, these young men were also arrested and later charged with applying for “a terror training” when in fact the training was about Internet safety and security.

Ethiopian court last month acquitted Abraham Solomon, detained for having connections with the first defendant Zelalem, along with four other opposition politicians namely Abraha Desta, an official of the opposition Arena Tigray Party and social media activist, Yeshiwas Assefa, council member of the Blue (Semayawi) Party, Daniel Shibeshi, official of the now defunct Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ) party and Habtamu Ayalew, former Public Relations Head of the defunct UDJ. However, until today they have not been released because the Prosecutor has reportedly appealed the decision.

An article by the Electronic Frontier Foundation shows the increasing attempts of silencing online activists and netizens in Ethiopia. The organisation called Ethiopia to:

Immediately free all journalists in prison, including the remaining Zone 9 bloggers, and relieve them of all charges for the “crime” of reporting the news.
End the prosecution of individuals for pursuing security training and using encryption technologies, and free Zelalem Workagegnehu, Yonatan Wolde, Abraham Solomon, and Bahiru Degu.

Cease and desist from using invasive surveillance technologies like FinFisher and Hacking Team’s Remote Control System to spy” on Ethiopian journalists, Diaspora, and opposition groups.

While Zone9 remains among Ethiopia’s best-known case of its kind, stories like that of Zelalem demonstrate that the issues these bloggers face extend far beyond a few individuals. The next court appearance of Zelalem, Yonatan and Bahiru is between November 7-9, 2015.

Launching an Effective Resistance against TPLF Tyranny – a tyranny which is the Real Driver of Instability and Civil Strife in Ethiopia

Ethiopia is one of the oldest nation-states in the world. Both written and oral history and recent archeological discoveries, despite regional rivalries, suggest the historical continuity of the nation. It was a Monarchy until 1974. From 1974 to 1991 the country was declared to be ‘Peoples Democratic Republic’ by the military junta, Derg, and went through a traumatic experience. Tigrai Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF), a guerrilla force from a minority ethnic group that led the rebellion against the military junta and captured the institutions of the State, has been in power for the past 24 years. The country is ruled as a one-party state under a façade of multi-party system since 1991.

The state is characterized by an intensifying political repression, rampant economic corruption, denial of basic human and political rights and repeated sham elections. The top brass of the army and security organs of the state, including key diplomatic positions, are effectively mono-ethnic despite the claim of the regime to stand for the equality of all ethnic groups. The people have completely lost confidence in the government after the regime shamelessly declared itself to have won 100% of the parliamentary seats in the 2015 election. Ethiopians, with no other choice available to them for democratic transition, have now risen up in arms. And this is a credible threat of force to the regime. History has time and again proven that no government that denies freedom, justice and democracy to its people will not survive their wrath.

Against this background, Ethiopian democratic forces, reflecting the broad diversity of the Ethiopian society, have recently formed the United Movement for the Salvation of Ethiopia through Democracy (UMSED) as an umbrella organization. UMSED is committed to coordinate the people’s struggle for effective resistance against TPLF’s tyranny and to ensure the transition to true democracy and stable political order in Ethiopia. No one relishes the idea of armed conflict; but, there are times when armed self-defense becomes the only choice to resist the unbearable violence by minority against majorities and to bring about an enduring peace and stability in a society.

Ethiopians have given up on elections as they have become meaningless rituals: There have been five national elections under the TPLF. The first election in 1995 resulted in 3 opposition members being elected to the parliament that has a total of 548 MPs. In the second election of 2000, the number for the opposition members rose to 27. In the 2005 general election, which was monitored by the Carter Center, European Union and other observers, Ethiopians turned out in record numbers and voted for the opposition, mainly CUD and UEDF. The results were rigged; and the election was blatantly stolen. Furthermore, many unarmed and defenseless peaceful protesters demanding the respect for the vote of the people were indiscriminately gunned down in a broad daylight. Leaders of opposition political parties, civic societies, journalists and dignified and well-meaning Ethiopian citizens were jailed for two years. Members of the fact finding commission appointed by the government itself published the evidence that the government has cold-bloodedly massacred 197 Ethiopians on this day of infamy. Today, these fact finders are themselves in exile fleeing for their lives. Only one opposition member was able to win a seat in the parliament during the 2010 fourth national election. In the most recent election of May 2015, in which the regime claimed 100% landslide victory of all parliamentary seats, no credible outside/international observers, excepting those from the corrupt African Union, were allowed to monitor the election.

The Ethiopian government owns all land in the country, including most residential and commercial real estate in towns and cities like all other communist totalitarian regimes in the world. The industrial and service sector of the economy is also heavily controlled by Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT), an endowed conglomerate parastatal serving as a front for the ruling TPLF party. Until recently it was managed by the wife of the late Prime Minister. Both were members of the TPLF/EPRDF politbureau and the legislative assembly, making their work similar to the work of the late Romanian dictators, Nicolae Ceaușescu and his wife Elena Ceaușescu. The total grip on land and the economy is a source of much power to the regime and the accompanying oppression of the people in a country where eighty five percent of the population is engaged in farming and most city dwellers rely on the government for employment and housing. All land in the country was declared government property by the old communist military regime and the current regime has continued the practice. The monopolization of land by the TPLF and its surrogate administrators has been the source of wealth for some, but continued to stifle the production of food as in the communist era. Thanks to this land policy, today lives particularly that of children and cattle in the Afar, Amara, Gambella, Somali and Southern regions of the country are perishing due to a single season rainfall failure.

Ethiopians are tired of their voices being totally muffled:Independent media is not tolerated. The International Federation of Journalists has declared the regime to be one of the worst offenders of press freedom. Television, Internet, and major print media is owned and operated by the government. The state is the only Internet Service Provider and uses Chinese, Italian and British Internet hacking and intercepting technology vendors to spy, trap and intimidate its critics and opponents. The regime also spends precious resources on signal jamming technology to stop the free flow of information from the outside. Foreign based and independently operated radio and TV broadcasts by the Ethiopian Diaspora are jammed on regular basis as are broadcasts in Ethiopian languages by Voice of America and Deutsche Welle Radio.

Ethiopians can no longer tolerate an entrenched ethnic minority rule: The TPLF, the dominant party in the coalition known as Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), controls all aspects of life in the country, similar to apartheid South Africa, by installing its ethnic rulers as heads of major institutions across the entire state apparatus. Ethiopians and international observers including those who bend backwards to “apologize” for the regime know very well that ethnic Tigrayans control the army, security services, telecoms , foreign affairs, and other nerve centers of the Ethiopian state machinery. The TPLF party pits different ethnic and religious groups against one another simply to perpetuate its minority rule and monopoly on resources. The regime has no respect for religious freedom. It has created chaos in both the Ethiopia Orthodox Tewahido Church and the Muslim mosques by interfering in the administration of their purely religious institutions through its political cadres. It has similar surrogates in Pentecostal Churches. Religious leaders who resist this interference are exiled (as the Orthodox Christian leaders) and imprisoned (as the Muslim community leaders). Ethnic minority domination has become a source of stress on the harmony of the people that is essential for peaceful coexistence in a diverse mutli-ethnic and multi-religious country like Ethiopia.

Ethiopians have said enough to the regime’s oppression with impunity: In the last twenty four years, the people have been appealing to the regime to respect the fundamental political and civil liberties of the citizenry. Peaceful protests are disallowed. Countless petitions and protest demonstrations that were held in the major capitals of the world have ended in deaf ears. The response by the government has been more repression and more violence. Today there is no independent media in the country due to the wide spread practice of jailing and forcing publishers and reporters in to exile. Today there are no functioning independent political parties due to the practice of systematic disruption of their normal day-to-day activities, jailing of opposition leaders or forcing them out of their country. Currently, prisons are filled with thousands of well-known political, civic organization and religious leaders as well as journalists under trumped-up “terrorism” charges. Certain ethnic groups are targeted. These prisoners are tortured to confess and to corroborate the charges against themselves and their colleagues. In spite of this massive oppression, victims of the regime have no recourse to justice since the judiciary is made subservient to the political manipulation of the ruling party.

As presented above, Ethiopians are once again faced with a regime that is led by a group of people who oppress them in multiple ways; deny them basic human rights and are hell-bent on blocking the democratic process for self-rule. We are also aware that though the regime comes from Tigrai, a thousands of Ethiopians that come from this ethnic group are victimized and have already started armed insurrection well over one decade ago. The predicament the Ethiopian people find themselves in currently is not unique. Under similar conditions, the founding fathers of one of the earliest democracies in the world have said it best in the Declaration of Independence by the Colonies from the Great Britain: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness’ A similar spirited paragraph is found in the preamble of African National Congress’s Freedom Charter. These words ring true today for the people of Ethiopia..

At this critical juncture, to facilitate the Ethiopian people’s struggle with able leadership, the democratic forces in the country are coalescing under the newly formed UMSED as a “broad church”.. It is not lost on the part of these democratic forces that one of the potential obstacles on the road to the Ethiopian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy is the international community’s multifaceted collaboration with the TPLF dominated government with seeming indifference to the prevailing repressive political conditions in the country.

Following their new goal of making inroads into Africa, some countries have become major financiers of the TPLF repressive regime. This may be an expected behavior from these governments, given the nature of their systems. However, the West’s support for the rogue dictatorial regime is inconsistent with the values of freedom, justice, and democracy the West practices at home and espouses for the stable world order. The West led by the US has correctly and understandably declared terrorism as the number one menace to global peace while in a typical short-term calculus have also decided to consider dictatorial regimes like that of Ethiopia to be “allies” in its anti-terrorism effort and the disorder in the Greater Horn of Africa region. As a result, the West has made the Ethiopian regime a beneficiary of its substantial financial, political, diplomatic and even military support indirectly emboldening it to continue with impunity in its human rights abuse and repression of its own people. This policy on the part of the Western countries is not only short sighted and immoral but is more than likely to lead to greater instability especially when minority regimes collapse.

It is obvious that the repressive nature of the regime and its extensive human rights abuses are among the main causes of instability in the region. For all those who are willing to see the writing on the wall, the regime is internally in continuous conflict with its citizens; it uses scorch-earth military expeditions in the Ogaden region to the east and makes occasional incursions into Kenyan territory pursuing armed resisters. The regime is also locked in constant conflict with Eritrea in the north. This is the reason why the regime has one of the biggest standing army in Sub-Saharan Africa thus spending large portion of the poor country’s budget on the military while the danger of famine and lack of resources for basic needs of its population is always lurking around.

While this is the true reason for the TPLF regime to build an army that is beyond the country’s legitimate external security threat need, it cynically uses a fraction of this army in international peace keeping missions in order to get acquiescence from the West for its nefarious repression at home as well as use these missions as a source of hard currency income for its corrupt highest military brass. Recently, the Ethiopian government is even seen scheming to leverage its security cooperation with the West, hopefully in vain, for extending its repressive hand abroad by invoking the legitimate rebellion and resistance of Ethiopians as a terrorist act. The truth is that the Ethiopian people’s resistance is a very disciplined and well organized struggle that is focused only on a political goal of making Ethiopia a democratic country either by forcing the minority regime t to come to table or removing it if it continues to persist on blocking Ethiopians’ right for self-government. The people’s resistance movement is also very much aware of its responsibilities for the Ethiopian people, the people of the region and the international community. It is a resistance movement which is informed from the rich tradition of Ethiopian history. It is not a group of bandits and terrorists. It includes several members of the opposition who contested the ill-fated 2005 election. In deed it is a democratic force and represents a cross section of Ethiopians.

In their long history of existence, Ethiopians have shown no affinity for internalizing any sort of extremist ideology let alone to terrorist practice despite the persistent attempt to impose communism during the military regime and ethno-centric politics by the current regime on them. The history of Ethiopia is replete with building good relationship with its neighbors, peaceful coexistence and social stability. Ethiopian history also shows the courage and willingness of the people to lay their lives and honor to resist and prevail over colonialism and minority rule. Witness the Ethiopian people’s glorious victory in the battle of Adwa and their resistance against fascist Italy even when the world turned its face and gave them its cold shoulders.

To stay true to our forefathers’ tradition saying no to oppression and its own commitment for democracy, UMSED pledges to work hard and to pay the necessary sacrifice to put an end to the tyranny of TPLF dominated regime and to assure that the TPLF regime becomes the last dictatorship in Ethiopian history. The UMSED appeals to the peace loving people of the world and the international community to stand in solidarity with the Ethiopian people; for it is only by democratizing Ethiopia that a lasting stability can be achieved and the specter of terrorism can be dealt with effectively in one of the most volatile regions of the world. Anything else will further destabilize Ethiopia and turns the Horn of Africa into a hot bed of terrorism.

አራት ጥይት የተፈረደባት አንዲት ነፍስ!

የሟች እናት ለቅሶ ነበር … ይሄ ግን የአንዲት እናት ጥያቄ ብቻ ሳይሆን የሁሉም ኢትዮጲያዊ ጥያቄ ነው ለእኔ ….ይታያችሁ ይች ትላንት ህልፈቷን የነገርኳችሁ ወጣት ሶሎሜ ጉልላት ….ስትገደል አብራት የነበረችው ጓደኛዋ እንደገለፀችው ….. የታመመ ሰው ለመጤቅ ጆሞ ቁጥር 1 ወደሚባለው ኮንዶሚኒየም ይሄዳሉ … የሄዱበትን ጉዳይ ጨርሰው ወደአንድ ካፌ ይገቡና ሲወጡ ወደመፀዳጃ ቤት ይሄዳሉ ….መፃዳጃ ቤቱ ውስጥ ክላሽንኮቭ የታጠቀ የፌዴራል ፖሊስ የደንብ ልብስ የለበሰ ሰው ቁሟል አልፈውት ገብተው ሲመለሱ የመፀዳጃ ቤቱ የውጭ በር ተቀርሮ መታጠቢ ክፍሉ ውስጥ ሰውየው ቁሟል …

ሟችን ጠርቶ ‹‹ሰላም በይኝ›› ይላታል …ሰላም ለማለት ፈቃደኛ አልሆነችም …እናም ይህ ሰው በቦክስ ሟችን ይመታትና መሬት ላይ ይጥላታል ….ቀጣዩ ጉዳይ ለማመን የሚቸግር ነበር …ጓደኛዋ ወደአንዱ መፀዳጃ ክፍል ገብታ ከውስጥ ቀረቀረችው … ወዲያው ግን አካባቢው በተኩስ ድምፅ ተናወጠ …አራት ጥይቶች ተተኮሱ ሰውየው በሶስት ጥይት ሶሎሜን ነበር የደበደባት …በመጨረሻም ራሱ ላይ ተኮሰ … ሶሎሜ ህይወቷ ወዲያው ሲያልፍ ገዳይ ይሙት ይትረፍ አልተረጋገጠም !!

እንግዲህ መሳሪያ የታጠቁና የመንግስት እና ህዝብ አደራ የተሸከሙ ሰዎች የግል ስሜታቸውን መቆጣጠርና ሃላፊነትን ከግል ጉዳይ መለየት ካልቻሉ ምን እንላለን ! ከዚህ በፊት ባህር ዳር ላይ በተመሳሳይ የወደድኳት ልጅ ተወችኝ በሚል ምክንያት በርካታ ሰዎችን ተኩሶ በመግደል ራሱን ስላጠፋው የፌዴራል ፖሊስ አባል ብዙ ተብሏል ….ለመሆኑ ለእንደዚህ አይነት ለህዝብም ህዝብ እጠብቃለሁ ለሚለውም አካል አሳፋሪና አሳቃቂ የሆነ ድርጊት ተጠያቂው ማነው ? በቃ የሆነው ሆነ ተብሎ ዝም ማለቱስ እስከመቸ??

“ሞላ ለጥቂት አመለጠን” የትህዴን ጊዜያዊ ሊቀመንበር ታጋይ መኮንን ተስፋዬ ዛሬ ለኢሳት ይናገራሉ።

”ከሚያዚያ ወር ጀምሮ የ7ዓመት ግምገማ እያደረግን ቆይተናል። በዚህም ሞላ በፖለቲካ አመራር ድርጅቱን አዳክሞታል የሚል ድምዳሜ ላይ ደርሰናል። ሰራዊቱ የአመራር ለውጥ በሚፈልግበት ጊዜ ላይ በተካሄደው በዚሁ ግምገማ ሞላ ከፍተኛ ተቀውሞ ከድርጅቱ አመራሮችና አባላት ደርሶበታል። ”

”ይዞ የወጣው ታጋይ ቁጥሩ ተጋኗል። ያም ቢሆን ለስራ ተብለው(የኪነት ቡድኑ ለበዓል) የተታለለ ነው። በተቻለን መጠን አብዛኛውን መልሰናል። የተዋጋው ከእኛው ጋር ነው። ከሻዕቢያ ጦር ጋር የሚባለው ፈጠራ ነው።”

መለስ ዜናዊ ብርሃኑ ነጋ ቅዠት እንደሆነበት አለፈ፤ በረከት ስምዖንና ተከታዮቹ " የቅዠቱ ቫይረስ ተሸካሚዎች" ሆነው በቅዠት ማእበል እየተናጡ ነው። ብርሃኑ ነጋ ለዲሞክራሲ የሚደረገውን ትግል የሚወክል አንድ ምልክት ነው፤ በቅዠት ማእበል እየተናጡ ያሉ ሰዎች፣ ከማእበሉ ሊተርፉ የሚችሉት የህዝቡን የነጻነት ጥያቄ መመለስ ሲችሉ ብቻ ነው፤ ይህን ጥያቄ የብርሃኑን ስም በማጠልሽትም ሆነ ብርሃኑን ለማጥፋት ሚሊዮኖችን በመመደብ ማስቆም አይቻልም። አንዳርጋቸውን በማፈን ወይም አንዱአለምን ፣ አቡበክርን ፣ እስክድርን ወዘተ በማሰር ለመግታትም አይቻልም ምክንያቱም ዘረኞችንና አምባገነኖችን የሚያቃዠው የነጻነት መንፈስ በኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ላይ ሰፍሯልና። ይህን የሚያስቃዥ መንፈስ ለማስቆም የሚቻለው የኢትዮጵያን ህዝብ ጨርሶ ማጥፋት አልያም ጥያቄውን መመለስ ሲቻል ብቻ ነው።

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said today that it would honor journalists and bloggers from Ethiopia and other three countries with the 2015 International Press Freedom Awards.

Journalists and bloggers who endured death threats, attacks, and imprisonments or reported in exile would be honored, the statement said.

Other journalists and bloggers that will be honored with the Ethiopian Zone9 Bloggers are from Malaysia (Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaque, “Zunar,”), Paraguay (Cándido Figueredo Ruíz), and Syria (Raqqa).

Joel Simon, CPJ executive director praised the journalists and bloggers: “In a very dangerous period for journalists, these awardees have braved threats from repressive governments, drug cartels, and Islamic State.”

“Whether through blogs or traditional media outlets, or by drawing cartoons, they risk their personal safety and freedom to bring us the news.”

Ethiopia ranks at number four on CPJ’s most censored list in its publication on the persecution of the Press Globally in 2015.

The Ethiopian government released only five Zone 9 bloggers and journalists who had been languishing in Ethiopian prisons for expressing their views on their blog and social me­­­­­­­dia.

It is recalled that Edom Kassaye, Zelalem Kibret, Asmamaw Hailegiworgis, Tesfalem Weldeyes, and Mahlet Fantahun were told to leave the prison without prior notification or court proceeding before President Obama visited Ethiopia in July. They were charged with terrorism: destabilizing the country, overthrowing the government, receiving financial and material aid from foreign nationals, and aligning themselves with an outlawed Ginbot 7 movement. Then, all the charges were dropped.

Zone9 bloggers, Edom Kassaye and Zelalem Kibret, said they did not have a clue as why they were arrested in the first place. It was also shocking for them to leave their friends behind bars.

The ruling party mouthpiece, Fana Broadcasting Corporation, reported in July that the trial would continue for the remaining four detainees: Befekadu Hailu, Atnaf Birhane, Nathnael Feleke, and Abel Wabella.

During their stay in prison, Edom and Zelalem said they were pushed by Ethiopian authorities to sign self-incriminating statements, which they refused. Zelalem was insulted, abused, and locked in dark room for 24/7.  Both bloggers said they are afraid to return to journalism.

Similarly, Ethiopia jailed unknown number of journalists. Eskender Nega, Wusbshet Taye and several other journalists are currently languishing in Ethiopian gulags.

Prison officers, however, released journalist and teacher Reeyot Alemu who was jailed since 2011 on terrorism charges. Reeyot was sentenced to 14 years, but reduced to 5 years on appeal.

Reeyot was accused of terrorism for criticized the government.

It is recalled that President Obama urged Hailemariam Dessalegn to curtail crackdowns on press freedom and open political space during a press conference on Monday July 27, 2015.

Ethiopia is the second leading jailer of journalists in Africa after Eritrea. Freedom House classifies Ethiopia as “Not Free” in their Freedom in the World 2015 Index.

በኢትዮጵያ የቅርብ ጊዜ የፖለቲካ ትግል ታሪክ ውስጥ ባጠቃላይና በተለይ ደግሞ ህወሓት/ኢህአዴግ የፖለቲካ ስልጣኑን በተቆጣጠረባቸው ባለፉት ሁለት አስርት አመታት ውስጥ ህወሓት/ኢህአዴግን እንቃወማለን በሚለው ወገን ገንነው የመጡ ሁለት አፍራሽና ኋላቀር የፖለቲካ አዝማሚያዎች (trends ) አሉ። ከነኝህ ውስጥ አንደኛው ራስን በፖለቲካ አመለካከት ዙሪያ ከማሰባሰብ ይልቅ በጎጥና በዘውግ ደረጃ የመመልከትና ሀገራዊ ፖለቲካን በደም ቆጠራ የመመንዘር አባዜ ነው። ሁለተኛውና ከዚሁ ያልተናነሰው ችግር የፖለቲካ ድርጅት በመሰረታዊ ያመለካከት መርሆች ዙሪያ ሰፋ ያለ የማህበረሰብ ክፍልን የማሰባሰቢያ ድንኳን መሆኑ ቀርቶ፤ በስራ ሳይሆን ድንገተኛ አጋጣሚን በመጠበቅ ትርፍ ለማጋበስ በሚቋምጡ ሰነፍ “ነጋዴዎች“ የተቋቋሙ ሩቅ የማይሄዱ የንግድ ድርጅቶች ይመስልበ ተግባር ምንም የማይፈይዱ ”የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች“ እንደ አሸን የመፍላታቸው ፈሊጥ ነው። እነኝህ ሁለቱም አዝማሚያዎች የህወሓት/ኢህአዴግን ህይወት ከማራዘም አልፈዉ ማህበረሰቡን ወደሚመኘው እውነተኛ የዴሞክራሲያዊ ስርዓት አንድ ጋት እንኳን ፈቀቅ አላደረጉትም። ይልቁንም ዴሞክራሲን የሚናፍቁ ታጋዮች ተሰባስበውና ተጠናክረው ስርዓቱን ከመግፋት ይልቅ በግለሰብ ደረጃ ወይንም በትናንሽ ቡድኖች በመሰባሰብ የሚያደርጓቸው እንቅስቃሴዎች በስርዓቱ በቀላሉ እየተመቱ ብዙ ታጋዮች ለሞት፤ ለስቃይና ለእስር ተዳርገዋል። አሁንም እየተዳረጉ ነው።
የዚህ አይነት የትግል አካሄድ ሩቅ እንደማያስኬድ የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ከተገነዘበው ቆይቷል። ይህ አካሄድ እንዲቀየርና የፖለቲካ ሀይሎች ተሰባስበው ይህንን በስልጣን ላይ ከሚገባው በላይ የቆየና አገሪቱን ለውርደት የዳረገ የጥቂት ዘራፊዎች ቡድን ከጫንቃው ላይ እንዲያነሱለት ሲማጠን ቆይቷል።ምንም እንኳን በመሪዎች ድክመት የሚመኘውን ዳር መድረስ ባይችልም ባጭር ጊዜ ልምዱ በትንሹም ቢሆን የተባበረ ትግል ሊያስገኝ የሚችለውን ጥቅም በመጠኑም ቢሆን አይቶታል።
ይህ የህዝብ ፍላጎት መኖር ግን በራሱ ይህንን የተባበረ ሰፊ ማህበራዊ እንቅስቃሴ መፍጠርን ቀላል ያደርገዋል ማለት አይደለም። በብዙ ስራ፤ በብዙ ድካምና ያላሰለሰ ጥረት የሚፈጠር እልህ አስጨራሽ ሂደት ነው። ባንድ በኩል እንዲህ አይነት ሰፊ የህዝብ እንቅስቃሴ በስልጣኑ ለመቆየት የሚፈጥርበትን ችግር የሚረዳው በስልጣን ላይ ያለው የዘራፊዎች ቡድን ይህን እንቅስቃሴ ከወዲሁ ለማምከን ያለ የሌለ የገንዘብ፤ የስለላና የተንኮል ሀይሉን ይጠቀማል። በተቃዋሚ ድርጅቶች ውስጥ ሰርጎ በመግባትና ደካማ ሀይሎችን በገንዘብ በመግዛት ወይንም በማስፈራራት እንዲህ አይነት ትብብሮች እንዳይፈጠሩ ከውስጥ ለመቦርቦር ተግቶ ይሰራል። በሌላ በኩል ደግሞ የትም የማያደርሳቸውን “የራሳቸውን ድርጅት” የሙጢኝ ብለው ለትልቅና አገራዊ አላማ እራሳቸውን ላለማስገዛት የቆረጡ ደካማ “የድርጅት መሪዎች” እንዲህ አይነቱን የጋራ እንቅስቃሴ በራሳቸው ግብዝነትና ስግብግብነት ምክንያት ብቻ ሊያሰናክሉት መሞከራቸው አይቀርም።
ይህ ግን ጊዜው ያለፈበት አዝማሚያ ነውና የሚሳካ ሙከራ አይሆንም። የተናጠል ትግል ሂደት ማብቂያው ጊዜ ተቃርቧል። የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብም ሆነ ለእውነተኛ ዴሞክራሲያዊት ኢትዮጵያ የሚታገሉ ኃይሎች እንዲህ አይነቱን ፋይዳ ቢስ ሂደት የመቀበል ትዕግስታቸው ተሟጧል። በቅርብ ጊዜ የሞላ አስገዶምን መክዳት በማስመልከት የትህዴን አመራር ባወጣው መግለጫ“ኢትዮጵያን እውነተኛ ዴሞክራሲያዊት ሀገር ለማድረግ ከሁሉም ኢትዮጵያውያን ዴሞክራሲያዊ ኃይሎች ጋር አብሮ መስራት የድርጅታችን መሰረታዊ መርሆ ነው” እንዳለው ይህ መሰረታዊ መርሆ በሀገራችን የጸረ ህወሓት/ኢህአዴግ ትግል የበላይነት ይዞ እየመጣ ያለ እጅግ አስፈላጊና ለድሉም ወሳኝ የሆነ የጊዜው የፖለቲካ አዝማሚያ ነው። አርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ይህን መሰረታዊ መርሆ ከምር ወስዶ የሚንቀሳቀስ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ድርጅት ነው።
ይህአዲስ የፖለቲካ አዝማሚያ ምቾት የማይሰጣቸው የፖለቲካ ኃይሎች መኖራቸው የሚጠበቅ ነው። የህወሓት/ኢህአዴግ የስለላ ድርጅት ከሰሞኑ ሞላ አስገዶምን በማስመልከት ባወጣው መግለጫ በግልጽ እንዳስቀመጠው ኢትዮጵያውያን የዴሞክራሲ ኃይሎች ተሰባስበው እንዳይታገሉና ስርዓቱን እንዳይፈታተኑ የማያደርገው ጥረት የለም። በዚህ በህወሓት/ኢህአዴግ መሰሪ እንቅስቃሴ ደግሞ በቀላሉ መጠቀሚያ የሚሆኑት በጋራ የሚደረግ ትግል በግለሰብ ደረጃ ያሳጣናል ብለው የሚፈሩት “የግል ጎጆና” ጥቅም የሚያስጨነቃቸው ደካማ የፖለቲካ መሪዎች ነን ባዮችን ነው። ባንጻሩ በየድርጅቶቹ ውስጥ በሚገኙት ብዙሀኑ ሩቅ አሳቢ መሪዎች ጥረትና በተለይም ደግሞ ይህን ትግል ለአላማ እንጂ ለሌላ ምንም አይነት የግል ጥቅም ያልተቀላቀሉና በትግሉ ሂደትም ትልቁን ሚና በሚጫወቱት ብዙሀን ታጋዮች አልበገር ባይነት እንዲህ አይነት ደካማ መሪዎች ተከታይ በማጣት ሲዳከሙና በሚያደርጉት እንቅስቃሴ በድርጅታቸው ውስጥ የሚነሳባቸውን ተቃውሞ መቋቋም ባለመቻላቸው በቀላሉ እየተፍሸለሸሉ ከመራገፍ በስተቀር በድርጅቶቹ ላይ ከባድ ጉዳት ሳያደርሱ ይከስማሉ።
በህወሓት/ኢህአዴግ “የስለላ ድርጅት አቀናባሪነት” በሞላ አስገዶም መሪነት ከሰሞኑ የተሞከረው የማፍረስ ንቅናቄ ከሽፎ ወደ ተስፋ መቁረጥ የክህደት እንቅስቃሴ የተቀየረው የሰሞኑ ሙከራም የዚህ አጠቃላይ ሂደት አካል ነው። በዚህ የከሸፈ ሙከራ ውስጥ እጅግ የሚገርመውና የትህዴንን ብዙሀን አመራሮች ብስለት፤ የድርጅቱን መዋቅራዊና ድርጅታዊ ጥንካሬ፤ እንዲሁም ብዙሀኑ ታጋይ ለጋራ ትግል ያለውን ቆራጥ አቋም ያስመሰከረው፤ ይህንን የማፍረስ ሙከራ የመራውና ሳያሳካለት በመጨረሻም በጣም ጥቂት ተከታዮቹን ብቻ ይዞ የከዳው ለረጅም ጊዜ የድርጅቱ ሊቀመንበር የነበረው ሞላ አስገዶም መሆኑ ነው። እንዲህ አይነት የመክዳት ሂደት ባጭር ጊዜ በማህበረሰባችን ላይ የሚፈጥረውን አስጨናቂ ስሜት የምንረዳው ቢሆንም ከዚያ በላይ ልንረዳው የሚገባው ግን በእንዲህ አይነት ከፍተኛ ያመራር ቦታ የነበረ ሰው ሙከራ አለመሳካት በእርግጥም የሀገራችን ፖለቲካ እየበሰለ፤ ከግለሰብ አመራሮች ተጽእኖ እየተላቀቀ፤ አዲስ የተባብሮ መታገል አቅጣጫን እያበሰረ እየሄደ መሆኑንና በትናንሽ ሰዎች መግተርተር ይህ ሂደት የማይቀለበስ መሆኑን የሚያመለክት የረጅም ጊዜ ግኝት መሆኑን ነው።

British Political Prisoner Moved to Ethiopian ‘Gulag’

(VICE News) – British citizen Andargachew Tsege, facing a death sentence in Ethiopia for spurious terrorism charges, has been moved from a secret detention centre in Ethiopia to a notorious federal prison in the African nation’s capital, VICE News can exclusively reveal.

Longtime democracy campaigner Tsege has now been captive for more than a year without access to lawyers, family or consular assistance, after being kidnapped at a Yemen airport by Ethiopian officials.

The 60-year-old father of three fled Ethiopia’s military regime as a student activist in 1979 and became a political refugee in the UK. He later founded opposition group Ginbot 7 in 2005, which was classified by the Ethiopian government as a terrorist organization.

In 2009 the government accused Ginbot 7 of organizing a failed coup and sentenced Tsege to death in absentia, in a trial “lacking in basic elements of due process,” according to American diplomatic observers.

Last year, Ethiopian agents seized Tsege at Sanaa Airport in Yemen. He has remained in solitary confinement since then, in an unknown location until the recent move. The legal charity Reprieve, based in London, has taken up his case.

The democracy activist’s family believe that the UK’s close strategic alliance with Ethiopia means that an innocent man could end up being sacrificed on the geo-political altar.

Despite criticizing Ethiopia for its human rights violations and its lack of civil liberties and democratic processes — the ruling EPRDF party won all 546 parliamentary seats in a May national elections criticized for alleged fraud — Western governments enjoy close security cooperation with Ethiopia, particularly regarding the “War on Terror,” where its troops are fighting al Shabaab Islamist militants in Somalia.

Maya Foa, the director of Reprieve’s death penalty team, picked up on this political alliance when she told VICE News that, although Tsege is a British citizen who was kidnapped unlawfully and who has been subjected to probable torture, the British government has “not made a single request to the Ethiopian authorities to have Andy returned home to his family in the United Kingdom” — though it has lobbied for him to be afforded his basic rights.

“The British government is definitely not championing him and that is heart-breaking for us,” Tsege’s partner Yemi Hailemariam told VICE News.

This disappointment in the British government was heightened recently when Yemi discovered that Tobias Ellwood, an FCO minister, had been in Ethiopia on 16 and 17 August for talks on South Sudan but had failed to raise Tsege’s case with any of his Ethiopian counterparts.

In a letter to Yemi, Ellwood said that he was “not able to meet Ethiopian Government representatives and so did not have an opportunity to raise Andargachew’s continued detention.” In a separate letter to Reprieve, Ellwood did not even mention that he has just got back from Ethiopia.

Officials at the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) know they are treading a fine line. On the one hand, they must lobby for better treatment for a British citizen. On the other hand, they do not want to jeopardize an alliance deemed strategically important.

“The UK and Ethiopia have a deep and long-standing bilateral relationship covering many areas of shared concern, so it’s important that further progress is made on this issue so those ties aren’t affected,” an FCO spokesman told VICE News.

There are signs, though, that Tsege’s continued illegal detention is causing a fraying of the Anglo-Ethiopian relationship. “The Foreign Secretary has raised this case on 17 separate occasions, most recently on August 8. We will continue to lobby at all levels for regular access to Mr Tsege, and for his family in the UK to be able to visit him”, the FCO spokesman said.

In June, a frustration with the progress that was being made on the case and the intransigence of Ethiopian government officials prompted the foreign secretary, Philip Hammond, to issue the British government’s strongest statement on Andy Tsege’s case.

“I spoke to Foreign Minister Tedros this afternoon and made clear that Ethiopia’s failure to grant our repeated and basic requests is not acceptable. I informed Dr. Tedros that the lack of progress risks undermining the UK’s much valued bilateral relationship with Ethiopia”, Hammond said.

Yemi said she welcomed the statement but that Tobias Ellwood’s recent failure to lobby on her partner’s behalf had left her feeling “really, really disappointed — particularly as he had met us personally.”

When asked about her partner’s situation, Yemi says, “nothing has changed.” She is terrified that, even if he is ever released, “Andy will have been too traumatized by his time in prison.”

Following a recent meeting, the UK ambassador to Ethiopia noted that Yemi’s partner had “no spare weight on him.”

Tsege told the ambassador that he still has no idea what charges he’s facing, if any.

The FCO told VICE News that Tsege’s move to the Kality federal prison in Addis Adaba was a “welcome development”, but whether it really represents an improvement is debatable.

Amnesty International has referred to Kality as a “gulag,” while the Swedish journalists Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson, who were imprisoned there for trying to report on the conflict in the Ethiopian region of Ogaden, said that conditions reminded a number of their fellow prisoners of paintings of the cramped bowels of 18th century slave ships.

Kality is also, as Schibbye and Persson reported in their book 438 Days, a hotbed of government spying in which inmates feel unable to say anything for fear they will be taken away.

For Maya Foa of Reprieve, the situation Andy Tsege is facing and the British government’s refusal to demand for his release is a “stain on Britain’s reputation and a travesty of justice. The British government must change its position and take immediate steps to bring Andy back before it’s too late.”

Sitting in Kality prison, Tsege is a reminder that the fate of individuals falls victim to the strategies of nation states. Yemi, who feels as though she has been banging her head against a brick wall trying to secure the release of her partner, has begun to feel “more and more like a conspiracy theorist, more and more like an anarchist”, as she tries to navigate the world of international politics.

Her daughter, Helawit Hailemariam, just won a Liberty award for co-developing a play about her father’s incarceration. “I wish I didn’t have to receive this,” she told her mother.

Woyane and intellectual prostitutes are terrified of Ethiopiawinet and democracy

I wanted to start with a statement Dr. Berhanu made right after Ginbot 2005 election to show how Ethiopiawinet and democracy is a death sentence to the Apartheid regime of Woyane and to reinforce Ethiopiawinet and democracy is the future of Ethiopians. I say that with great conviction– after observing how civilized Ethiopians are to be led by the uncivilized regime and it surrogates.

Unlike many are misled to believe, ‘we Ethiopians’ (Ethiopiawinet) is the one-and-only reason that kept us independent from colonialism and drove Italian Fascist crazy to kill so many patriots. Apparently, the same Ethiopiawinet is what drives Woyane crazy to kill so many more patriots and jail many more political, civic society leaders and journalists and artists in jail to earn them the honor of being labeled terrorists by none other than the terrorist regime led by TPLF that still refused to vacant its illegitimate power peacefully. Instead, it continued to rule by brute terror, racketeering and outlandish propaganda since its inception and ever since its humiliating defeat by the popular vote.

Anyone that failed to see this reality brought on the people of Ethiopia and doesn’t appreciate the civilized ways our people handled TPLF’s terror and corruption must be ignorant or lazy enough not to understand Ethiopiawinet and democracy or he/ she is corrupt Woyane apologist that feel it is a trait for the mercenary regime. Some apologists are so brazen; they think screaming loud and playing hide-and-seek would detract and prevent the rogue regime from surrendering power.

Quite honestly; watching the apologists agonize to save the regime by insulting the people of Ethiopia makes my stomach churn to ask; how desperate they must be to resurrect a self- declared mercenary mafia regime.

There are only two possibilities regimes refuse to surrender power peacefully while they can. The first is the familiar greed corruption brings — common to most dictatorships in the world and the arrogance that comes with it. The second, often rare is the hate regimes harbor on the people they occupy. The latter is where Woyane turn into mercenary-for-hire and resorted to commit unspeakable atrocities and racketeering unprovoked in order to accomplish its bigger mission of reducing Ethiopiawinet to the level of Fascist’s proportion.

In one hand; Woyane is in the pocket of Arab depots led by Saudi — breathing down its throat. In another; it is hired-hand by the old colonial empires to accomplish their grand mission. Caught between being a symbolic government of the people of Ethiopia it occupied by 100% and empowered to ransack the nation as a hired-hand of its enablers Woyane is in total confusion.

It doesn’t take much to figure out the regime is empowered by its foreign enablers and in confusion. Just tracking its intellectual prostitutes and their associates’ double speak will tell you who is running the show.

On a previous article, I point out how intellectual prostitution griping our society to help Woyane extend it rule. Reflecting back; such modern phenomenon that resulted in hate for Ethiopians didn’t happen by accident but by design. Nor do the ruling regime’s intellectuals have an exclusive monopoly on prostitution.

In my opinion, Intellectual prostitution is a manifestation of ‘colonized’ mind — prostituting its way to replicate the old colonialists’ proportion by consistently undermining own civilization. Such self-inflected wound; more so with intellectuals that blindly excuse the brazen ethnic Apartheid dictatorship is visible for a naked eye. This modern Banda culture is what left Ethiopians and the people of Africa in general to suffer for far too long under dictatorship.

The origin and spread of intellectual prostitution in relatively short time can only be traced to modern education adapted to serve other than the people it was intended. The one fit-all education without understanding the context or the application of knowledge ended up creating dysfunctional and self-doubting elites that operate in a vacuum. Such mismatch not only exacerbated the crises but, it become the primary source of comfort for intellectual prostitution —further fueling division, exploitation and conflicts by undermining the rule of laws and collective purpose in democratic dispensation.

Surly, anyone; let alone intellectuals (prostitutes or otherwise) would agree –a 100% win by a brazen ethnic tyranny is not civilized engagement in democracy. Nor; there should be disagreement over the regime cronies running a racketeering ring as proper way managing an economy. Likewise, everybody should concur; TPLF terror network isn’t what governments do for stable and secure society. And, most importantly, anyone understands; justice is too important to be left for cadres of tyranny to prostitute it for political expediency or auction it for the highest bidder.

These elementary knowledge are suspended in the midair causing havoc in our society because of intellectual prostitution, noting else.

In reality, no society but, Ethiopians with diverse ethnic and religious experience that lived in relative tranquility and independence deserve democratic governance. Such organic civilization that should have been an asset for any society and a cause for collective pride continued to be undermined by none other than intellectual prostitution in the service of dictatorship and beyond.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, intellectual prostitution is the cause not the symptom of brazen dictatorship not the other way around as many think. Call me old school, for that matter add terrorist label on it as the regime’s intellectuals do but, I haven’t encounter an intellectual that associate with Woyane worth the paper his/her diploma (real or fake) printed on.

By no means is intellectual prostitution is meant to insult anyone but, to call on the intellectuals that defend the crimes of the regime against Ethiopians and Ethiopia to come up with coherent response to their unethical and often criminal behavior lap dancing with the regime.

A classic example of intellectual prostitution is found among Ethiopians in the Diaspora; particularly those that live in ‘free’ societies that voluntarily chose the lower road of prostitution. Their defense of the brazen regime is not only historic for present generation to document and challenge but future generations to learn not to replicate. Regardless, the damage it is causing as we speak demands speedy remedy and accountability.

There is no doubt in anybody’s’ mind the source of intellectual prostitution is as a result of the colonial experience in Africa that is visible for naked eye. Likewise, there is no question the worst nightmare for intellectual prostitutes are patriotic intellectuals.

Therefore, as the ground battle being waged by patriotic Ethiopians in arms and with pen goes on, it must be matched by patriotic intellectuals’ battle against their prostituting peers that sustain the regime. The clandestine intellectual prostitutes must be identified and challenged by their peers in public. Theirs credential and ethics must be questioned by the proper authorities that govern them. Their violation must be reported by Medias to the world.

The existence of the Ethiopian Satellite Television-Radio (ESAT) alone is priceless undertaking that shook the foundation of intellectual prostitutions. But, supporting institutions must play their own role to challenge the well-entrenched and financed institutions run by intellectual prostitutes.

For instance, the scrooge of corruption led by intellectual prostitution that held the people of Ethiopia hostage to the point of starvation hasn’t been challenged institutionally yet. The absence of corruption watchdog to identify and punish the responsible parties left Ethiopians without recourse. The same goes in many areas. Every patriotic Ethiopian intellectual can play a role in establishing the institution necessary to battle intellectual prostitution.
The 20th century German-born political theorist Hannah Arendt described intellectual prostitution better this way;
“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.”

As the struggle is waged in multiple fronts, every patriotic Ethiopian can help to make dictatorship history as patriotic intellectuals must make intellectual prostitution history.

Who but, intellectual prostitutes on behalf of ethnic dictatorship disagree with such noble idea?

Helen Epstein, an adjunct professor at Bard College, author and contributing article writer wrote an article titled ‘Who’s Afraid of African Democracy?’ onThe New York Review of Books’ and asked ‘Why do so many African leaders assume they can ignore their constitutions, cling to power, and get away with it?’

“In order to understand this epidemic of folly, it’s important to appreciate how much influence the West has over these countries—either through foreign aid given bilaterally, via institutions such as the World Bank, or in the form of clandestine military support. For example, Western aid pays for half of Burundi’s budget, roughly 40 percent of Rwanda’s, 50 percent of Ethiopia’s and 30 percent of Uganda’s. All these countries receive an unknown amount of military aid as well. This money enables African leaders to ignore the demands of their own people, and facilitates the financing of the patronage systems and security machinery that keeps them in power.”

As factual as her assessment may be in answering who finance dictatorship; what she overlooked was the role intellectual prostitution play in making it possible. After all; it takes two to tango.

As far as Ethiopians are concerned what the former does is not new. What is new is and within our control are intellectual prostitutes that renegade their responsibility to their people on behalf of dictatorship. That my people; is the ultimate answer for the long standing question of ‘who is afraid of African democracy?’

We can blame the world for eternity but, the ultimate answer boils down to home grown intellectual prostitutes.

When you here too much empty noises coming out from different directions, ask the question; are intellectual prostitutes behind it?

As they say; charity begins at home. In the same analogy; democracy begins at home too. The sooner we understand; home grown intellectual prostitution is the primary reason why our people are under dictatorship the sooner we make the struggle short and relief those that sacrifice so much to make democracy happen.

Let us begin cleaning house.

Ethiopians will be free and under democracy soon; count on it.
